Review: Sizzling Stonegrill @ Aeon Tebrau City, Johor Bahru

Sizzling Stonegrill is a place where you can grill meat on a hot stone. I ordered Beef Tenderloin Steak which is priced at RM42.90 and you can choose 2 side orders. The prices of the side orders are listed and some are at least 2x the price of other side dishes so you can choose the most expensive side orders to make your money worth lol. It was my treat so I let my boyfriend chose the side orders and he chose mashed potatos and french fries. Two potato side dishes wtf. Since it is DIY, you can cook the beef up to the level of rawness you like. I have mine cooked well done, which means fully cooked because I had a stomachache yesterday and don’t want to risk getting another one today. While the beef was cooking, I tasted the mashed potatoes first. I didn’t like it. It had a slight soapy aroma which doesn’t exactly make me felt like eating soap. Rather, I suspect the soapiness was from certain herbs or spices. The gravy was black pepper-based which helped to mask that soapines...

Review: Miyako @ Aeon Tebrau City, Taman Desa Tebrau, Johor Bahru

Miyako is one of the restaurants located in the Japanese Street in Aeon Tebrau City. It is mainly a BBQ restaurant with a few Japanese offerings like grilled mochi, karaage etc. Look at the picture below. Does it remind you of anything? It looks exactly like BBQ Plaza! The set usually includes cabbages. I chose the plain bone broth even though they have other fancier soups. I don't really like the meat as it is not very fresh. The meat tastes like it has been frozen for a long time, but what can you expect from a restaurant in a mall? The dipping sauce is crucial here, and there are many types of sauce available which you could scoop on your own. The place is often a little too cold for me so be sure to bring a jacket if you feel cold easily.

Review: Gerai Makan Japanese BBQ 大众烧肉 @ Taman Desa, Kuala Lumpur

Gerai Makan Japanese BBQ 大众烧肉 is not a place for princessy girls who don't want to smell like BBQ after meals or risk having makeup being melted away. You will definitely sweat and smell like BBQ after visiting this place. It is located at the back alley of Plaza Faber. We ordered this dish called Genghis Khan which only costs RM20. Genghis Khan is a popular dish in Japan which is basically Japanese grilled mutton slices with cabbages on a skillet. I would recommend this dish. The meat and broth is very flavorful and savory.   Other than that, you can also order innards and meat to be grilled. We ordered throat, heart, baby intestine and tongue. I don't recommend the throat as it was quite tough. The other parts were good and easy to chew. I'm totally Chinese and enjoyed eating them.

Review: Gangnam 88 Restaurant @ Solaris Mont Kiara

After visiting Jeju and had delicious BBQ pork, I crave for more Korean BBQ and google for recommendations. Gangnam 88 Restaurant was recommended by some bloggers, so why the hell not. The good thing about this place is that we can order only one serving of meat even though there are 2 people, unlike many other Korean BBQ restaurants that insist us to order at least 1 serving of meat per person. Well, thank god we only ordered one. We ordered pork shoulder and the meat was tough! It was so difficult to chew so in the end we didn't finish it. Can't really simply trust some food bloggers anymore because they are probably sponsored or are friends with the owner.
