Review: Kuu by Tea Garden @ Aeon Tebrau City, Johor Bahru Part 2

So I had visited Kuu by Tea Garden before ( Read Part 1 here ), and this time I decided to visit it again for the egg tarts and also the mee rebus. The mee rebus was okay. It wasn’t spicy at all and it would definitely taste better with some cili padi thrown into it. It definitely isn’t as good as the ones you can find at Malay stalls and restaurants. It isn’t bad though and it is something I would order again.

Review: Todak Seafood Restaurant (Orang Asli) @ Teluk Jawa, Masai, Johor

Todak Seafood Restaurant is arguably the most popular seafood restaurant in Johor Bahru as the food is supposedly good and affordable. Tons of Singaporeans would flock to this restaurant and it is recommended to come before 7 pm so you wouldn’t have to wait for so long. Todak Restaurant is always very packed and you would have to stand near the table of the patrons whom you think would be leaving soon so you can book that table. Come in a huge group and give the patrons who are eating (preferably a small group like a couple) an intense stare to pressure them to leave quicker lol. After we got a table, we ordered Teo Chew steamed fish, lala with spring onion and ginger, and the highly recommended curry prawns. We also ordered bo li seng (iceberg lettuce) vegetables which wasn’t photographed because who cares about vegetables at a seafood restaurant. The steamed fish came in a huge plate. The fish was fresh but the broth wasn’t great as it was a tad plain. We would prefer it to...

Review: Kuu By Tea Garden @ Aeon Tebrau City, Johor Bahru Part 1

Tea Garden is a popular cafe chain in Johor Bahru. The recently revamped Aeon Tebrau City now has Kuu by Tea Garden. I don't know why they add Kuu to it. Perhaps it is a mini version because Tea Garden has more variety of items to order. The popular food at Tea Garden are actually the snacks like egg tarts and salted egg bun. At the regular Tea Garden, there are Cantonese egg tarts and Portuguese egg tarts which get sold out often but it seems like Kuu by Tea Garden only has Cantonese egg tarts which don't get sold out. I don't know why they don't sell Portuguese egg tarts in their Aeon Tebrau City branch as they are popular in other branches. The egg tarts are delicious enough for me to purchase again. I don't really recommended the main courses in the menu though. I have tried the herbal chicken and I think the chicken was quite tasteless. Read Part 2 here

Review: One 2 Eat Cafe @ Taman Molek, Johor Bahru

One Two Eat Cafe seems to be a favourite among the locals due to the extensive menu. For instance, there are local food and Japanese food. The above is tantan ramen. I don't recommend it as it is quite tasteless and the pork slices aren't fresh so there is an unpleasant smell. The teriyaki salmon don on the other hand, is not bad. It is edible. Another food I had tried that I would recommend is the fried prawn with thousand island sauce. I had also tried the saba fish with rice which I would not recommend as the saba fish is quite tasteless, unlike the one at Sushi Zanmai. Because this cafe has an extensive menu and the food is okay, it is a place you can go again and again to try out various dishes. Just don't expect too much.

Review: Yut Kee Restaurant @ Jalan Kamunting, Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur

Yut Kee Restaurant is very popular in Kuala Lumpur and it is one of the restaurants you must try. It has an old kopitiam design and you would usually have to wait around 30 minutes to get a seat. You would often have to share a table with others too. The most popular dish is undeniably the Hainanese Pork Chop. I highly recommend it. The potatoes are delicious too but they are like 4/5 cooked? The inside of the potatoes seem just a tad raw, but it could be just me. There is also Hainanese Chicken Chop but I don't recommend it because it is more tasteless. I always prefer pork over chicken because pork tastes more flavorful to me. Basically, whatever chicken dish would taste better to me if you replace the chicken with pork. If you prefer chicken, then you could try the Hainanese Chicken Chop instead. If you're a no pork no life kind of person, go for the Hainanese Pork Chop! #babisquad I was sitting opposite a college girl who said she's from The One Academy, and she o...

Review: Chee Cheong Fun @ Hong Kong Boy, Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru

Hong Kong Boy is a popular place to hang out at night and eat hawker food. Locals would highly recommend this place. I was not really hungry so I ordered Chee Cheong Fun which seemed to be quite popular among patrons. Um... I wasn't satisfy with it. It looks not bad but it was kinda tasteless. It definitely pales in comparison to the one I have eaten at Clan Dim Sum in Sri Petaling. I was craving that yummy Chee Cheong Fun at Clan Dim Sum and was sorely disappointed when I tried this Hong Kong Boy version. So far, my food exploration in Johor has been pretty disappointing. Many people from other states have also stated that Johor food isn't good. Singaporeans seem to love Johor food though, maybe because they have not really explored food in other states.

Review: Two Pesos Taiwan Mini Steamboat @ SS2

My boyfriend told me that SS2 is quite a popular food area so we decided to try Two Pesos as there are many customers queuing up for it.  I have visited Two Pesos at SS2 several times, and most of the time I would order the regular soup (Two Pesos Stone) instead of the fancy ones. This is because I have tried a variety of soup and the regular broth tastes the best to me.  Let's see... I have tried the Milky Seafood broth and the Lemon Seafood broth as well. The Milky Seafood broth is disgusting to me at first sip, while the Lemon Seafood broth is okay. I won't order them anymore. The meat is fresh which is why I don't mind coming here again and again. The most important criteria for a good steamboat is the freshness of its ingredients. The price is affordable and the place is cozy which makes it a great place to hangout with friends and family.
