Review: Yew’s Cafe @ Senibong Cove, Masai, Johor

I heard the spaghetti here is good so we made a visit to Senibong Cove. The restaurant has a cozy and joyful atmosphere due to Christmas season. I ordered prawn spaghetti and chicken wings. The prawn spaghetti was delicious. The key to a good spaghetti is tons of garlic snd this spaghetti has it. The prawn shell was difficult to peel off as it sticked to closely to the skin. Anyone knows why certain prawns are more difficult to peel? I heard it was due to them bring frozen and not fresh. I forgot to take a picture of the chicken wings. They were too salty so I don’t recommend it. Go for the spaghetti and forget the chicken wings.

Review: The Substitutes @ Taman Dataran Larkin, Johor Bahru

I found this cafe when I was nearby and looking at Google to see if there are any good cafes nearby. The Substitutes came highly rated so we decided to check it out. The cafe screams HIPSTER which is still a budding trend in JB. The waiter was really polite and we ordered mudpie and chicken chop. The mudpie came first. It is the usual practice to ask if we would like to have our desserts to be served now or after meals but we weren’t asked that. Nevertheless, having the dessert now was what we wanted because the dessert was mainly for me while the chicken chop was mainly for my boyfriend. The mudpie looked like a cake but it wasn’t. The base was made out of chocolate biscuits and some icy layer. It was then topped with ice cream and 2 biscuits filled with pineapple jam if I was not mistaken. Chocolate sauce was also drizzled on the plate. Overall, it was good enough to satisfy my cravings for a dessert. I don’t know if it was intentional but the chicken chop was burnt on...

Review: Sizzling Stonegrill @ Aeon Tebrau City, Johor Bahru

Sizzling Stonegrill is a place where you can grill meat on a hot stone. I ordered Beef Tenderloin Steak which is priced at RM42.90 and you can choose 2 side orders. The prices of the side orders are listed and some are at least 2x the price of other side dishes so you can choose the most expensive side orders to make your money worth lol. It was my treat so I let my boyfriend chose the side orders and he chose mashed potatos and french fries. Two potato side dishes wtf. Since it is DIY, you can cook the beef up to the level of rawness you like. I have mine cooked well done, which means fully cooked because I had a stomachache yesterday and don’t want to risk getting another one today. While the beef was cooking, I tasted the mashed potatoes first. I didn’t like it. It had a slight soapy aroma which doesn’t exactly make me felt like eating soap. Rather, I suspect the soapiness was from certain herbs or spices. The gravy was black pepper-based which helped to mask that soapines...

Review: Drip Loft (Vape Cafe) @ Bangsar Baru, Kuala Lumpur

Drip Loft is the place to go if you love coffee and vaping. I don't care about vaping as I'm here for the food. The way to my heart s through my stomach and not my lungs. Hearing the word vape actually makes me cringe as I hate anything bad to my health caused by others such as smoking and vaping. And no, I don't want to hear your excuses on how vaping is not unhealthy. I ordered the croissant and the presentation is magnificent. However, it tastes soooo average. This is overpriced croissant. I won't come back here anymore unless some friends ask me to die die hang out at this place. It's really not worth it unless you are here for the vaping and environment, and want to enjoy some snacks.

Review: Angel Cradle Cafe @ Taman Molek, Johor Bahru

One day, I spotted this Angel Cradle Cafe while looking around in Taman Molek. It didn't have many customers but I decided to try out this cafe. Anything for the blog! It is a cafe that sells mainly Western food so the price is a little high. I can't remember the name of this pasta but it must have the word carbonara or creamy in it. I really wouldn't recommend it. It is disgusting! I couldn't finish eating it. This tomato-based pasta is not amazing either but better than the creamy pasta. At least this one is tolerable. I won't come back to this cafe again. The food is disappointing and it is quite expensive. I was shocked to see that it has good ratings on Google reviews. This is why you can't easily trust reviews on Google or Facebook because friends and family could have easily give them good reviews. There must be better cafes than this (Although I still find JB quite hopeless so far when it comes to food)! Adios!

Review: Patissez @ SS21 Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya

I have seen people posting about Patissez before so I decided to test it out. Their Freakshakes seem to be their star product. I have visited Pattisez a few times to try out a few of their Freakshakes. I would recommend you to share the Freakshake instead of gulping the whole thing by yourself because it is quite huge. Each Freakshake costs RM19 but they also have Baby Freakshakes which cost RM12 each. The picture above is the Freakshake called Muddy Pat 2.0 which is basically chocolate everything. To be honest, none of their Freakshakes are amazingly good for me. It's just something I would eat for fun but won't crave for it. Anothe flavour of Freakshake that I had also tried was Pretzella, a Nutella-based milkshake. I slightly prefer this over the Muddy Pat 2.0. Mint Condition is a mint-flavored Freakshake. It isn't for everyone as it kinda feels like eating toothpaste after a while. The Crispy Skin Sea Bass is one of the recommended items on the menu. I...

Review: Brewyard Coffee @ SS15, Subang Jaya

While craving for desserts, I spotted this Brewyard Coffee Cafe. I thought they would have cakes, but something else caught my attention: Waffles! Not the ordinary waffles, but the bubble waffles which is also referred to as Eggio waffle or B.Y. Waffle. Needless to say, I had to try one of these.   So the waffle was okay, not the best I have tried but definitely not terrible. The waffle was not as fragrant as the ones at Madame Waffle and Zeus Thirteen Cafe . The waffle was topped with 2 scoops of ice cream which made this dessert a tasty treat for those who are not picky about waffles.

Review: FANPEKKA Cafe by SDS @ Aeon Tebrau City, Johor Bahru

Johor Bahru seems to be upgrading itself with new malls. Aeon Tebrau City is not new but there was a recent expansion the mall is bigger now with new shops. On the highest floor, there is this theme park for kids where you can find FANPEKKA Cafe by SDS. SDS is prominent bakery and cafe in Johor Bahru. I wasn't in the mood for cakes as I was hungry so I ordered aglio olio instead. I'm not a fan. I'm easy to please when it comes to aglio olio but this pasta tastes 'empty'. It has not much flavour except for MSG. Suffice to say, I wouldn't come here for main meals again. I have tried cakes at SDS before and they are passable. Not great but not terrible either.

Review: Morningwood Cafe @ SS15, Subang Jaya

Making my way downtown, walking fast, faces pass, stumbling upon Morningwood Cafe. Yeah doesn't rhyme at all, but whatever. With such a hipster name which follows the trend of many emerging cafes in Klang Valley in recent years, this cafe is certain to attract the young crowd who likes to try out food at new cafes (AKA me). The names of the dishes have a sexual connotation to them, like Ozawa, Yamate, Tentacles, etc but I ordered the boringly named black pasta which is a squid ink-based pasta. Oh, come on. I could think of many naughty things associated with 'black' such as black ____ and black ____ (insert the blanks by yourself) so they could definitely do better than naming all their pastas a boring color. Don't spoil the party, man!   While it looks disgusting, it doesn't taste so. I think it is a combo of tomato pasta with squid ink because the sauce has that sourish taste of tomato pasta. I love pasta and basically any decent pasta is enough to make me ...

Review: Zeus Thirteen Cafe at Bandar Sunway

So while I was in Subang Jaya, either Facebook or Google told me there were 3 popular cafes nearby. I was in the mood for some Western food, so why not go to this Zeus Thirteen Cafe which was recommended with many good reviews. Upon arriving, there were only like 2 customers so I thought "Shoot! Must be fake reviews again!" Anyhow, I was hungry and since we have already reached the cafe, just try only lah. The area kinda quiet and lack humans anyway so maybe that's one of the reasons this cafe is pretty empty. I ordered grilled chicken salad and breakfast waffle. The breakfast waffle is RM15 but I can't remember how much the grilled chicken costs. You know how some chicken served at cafes would have a kind of smell? I hate those types of tasteless chicken with smell but thankfully, the chicken at Zeus Thirteen Cafe does not have that smell. The chicken is fresh. Really not bad wei! The waffles are quite fragrant too. I love the butter but my boyfriend selfis...
